Leo was not a Dane (obviously), but he factors into this story. He taught me so much and was my second performance partner. Not only did I learn about different handling skills for an ankle-height dog versus one at my hip, he blessed me with the heart of a lion, truly. This dog would have done anything for me and always gave me everything. Most of all, he was beloved. He was a character, he was affectionate, he was silly, and he was doggedly loyal. Losing him took a serious toll. I can only hope we’ll meet again one day, my little prince.
